Advanced explained:
HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) is an extension of UMTS technology and introduced higher data transmission rates by improving the packet switching procedures of UMTS. HSPA uses two key technologies: HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) for faster downloads and HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) for faster uploads. HSPA offers data rates of up to 14.4 Mbps in the downlink and up to 5.76 Mbps in the uplink. It makes it possible to utilise data-intensive applications such as video streaming and large file transfers on 3G networks more efficiently.
Example:
With an HSPA-enabled phone, users could download files faster and stream video with less buffering while on the move, significantly improving mobile internet usage.
